Hello all! I know I don't normally post on Thursdays, due to band practice, but I wanted to make up for the fact that I didn't post on Wednesday. I know that's a "if I have time" day, but lately I've been getting back into poetry, and I really wanted to post some of my recent writings. I hope you enjoy! (Btw: All these poems are written in Iambic Pentameter) I had to write one (the one entitled My Bullies) for Ela, but the rest I just did for fun. Either that, or someone challenged me with a short amount of time and a random topic. It's pretty easy to tell which ones are which.
My Bullies by: Abigail Gurley
I know my battle scars will never heal,
I fear that on my knees you'll make me kneel.
My anger does build slowly, this I know,
and in my heart, my passion it will grow.
Now gone are days in which I'd sit and cry,
Goodbye to days I wished that I would die.
You know that now I won't bow down to you,
The words I say are many, yet a few.
By now I'm finally happy once again
You monsters were my demons, now you're slain.
You used to haunt me daily, and in dreams,
But now I know you'll never hear my screams.
And so to you I say farewell, adieu,
You'll sit in solitude wishing you knew.
I'm free, you see, I'm not controlled by you.
I have but one more phrase to say: we're through.
Champion by: Abigail Gurley
Our peace and solitude is rather rare;
It seems that nowadays we're in despair.
We need a hero NOT with golden hair,
But bravery and strength to lead us there.
They'll come someday; I know it to be true,
But when, I must confess, I have no clue.
They'll ride in as a champion, brave and blue,
Forever free, now this I swear to you.
You've heard their stories, now please just believe;
I hate to say that now I take my leave.
Fear not, my friends, for I will soon return,
Please read these words if ever you do yearn.
Our champion now will be here any day,
But until then I know we'll be okay.
Alas, my friends, for now I say no more,
But in your heart, I know my words you'll store.
A Car Poem by: Abgail Gurley
Toyota does drive on and pave the way,
My Honda does lead me on through the day.
Garbage by: Abigail Gurley
The garbage smells like death and fills the air,
I see that now there's garbage everywhere.
Thanks for reading! Hopefully you liked them, even if a few were a bit goofy. Expect another post tomorrow!
