Reading at a Reading party? What a weirdo!

Hey everyone! I'm proud to say I now have 500+ page-views! I am so honored to know that you all like my blog, and I'm happy to know that I have some fans out there!

I want to start a new segment on my blog called: My Daily Story. Each day I'll post some funny/sad/just plain silly story for you guys to hear. :) Today's story is:  "Reading at a Reading party? What a nerd!"

So, not too long ago, my school had the 'Million Words' party. Basically, throughout the year, they count up the amount of words each book you read has, and at the end of the year if your total is 1,000,000+ they let you go to the party.
Well, for reasons I'll explain later, I joined at the 2nd semester (Middle of the school-year). I didn't really expect to read enough in time, but what do you know? End of the school year rolls around, I have nearly 2 million words. I got my invite REALLY late, though. As in, 'the day of the party', late!
So, not that exciting/funny, right? Wrong! I went to the party, and even though everyone there had read 1million words, I was still the  biggest nerd. See, for the party, we went out to the soccer fields to hang out, and we got popcorn and sno-cones.
As it happens, I'm really shy. (Remember?) So instead of sitting with a bunch of friends, I found a quiet, shady spot, and sat against the school to read my book. Turns out, I was the ONLY one who had brought a book...... to the READING party, mind you, and they called me weird! It didn't bother me, though. I just sat there and read my book while everyone else baked in the sun.
I sat there for about an hour, before the nicest girl in school, (No, really, she's great!) came up and asked if I would come sit with her. I nodded, and walked over with her. I sat down on the ground with her and 2 of her friends, and for the rest of the time we laughed together, and made daisy-chains.
I'll never forget that. It taught me that even though I'm different, people like me. She didn't have to invite me over, but she did. She actually cared whether or not people hung out with me! For that, I'll probably always like her. :)

Well, there's my story of the day. :) Hope you like it, and you learn from it, too.
Stay Beautiful,
Abbie <3
